This striking black-and-white portrait captures Frank Sinatra on set in Miami, 1967, during the filming of the cult neo-noir The Lady in Cement. Holding a revolver with effortless cool, Sinatra embodies his character, private detective Tony Rome, in a moment of cinematic swagger.

The photograph, taken by the legendary Terry O’Neill, distils the essence of Sinatra’s screen presence—sharp, stylish, and unapologetically commanding. O’Neill’s lens captured the most iconic figures of his generation, and his work continues to be exhibited in leading galleries and held in elite collections worldwide.

In The Lady in Cement, Sinatra plays a wisecracking Miami P.I. investigating a murder mystery beneath the city’s sun-drenched façade. The film is a time capsule of 1960s style, masculinity, and noir allure—with Sinatra at the peak of his film and music stardom.

This powerful portrait was hand-selected for inclusion in the groundbreaking exhibition ‘Hollywood Reloaded’, curated by artist and former Special Forces soldier Bran Symondson. It forms part of the final project Terry O’Neill collaborated on before his passing, imbuing it with rare artistic and historical significance.

The original photograph is hand-signed by both Terry O’Neill and Bran Symondson, making it a truly collectable work, steeped in legacy and authenticity.

At the core of the Hollywood Reloaded collection lies a bold and provocative concept: artist Bran Symondson took the very firearm depicted in each portrait and physically fired it at the photographic print itself. The result is a powerful transformation—the smooth surface of each aluminium print is punctured with real, raw bullet holes, showcasing the precise and destructive impact of that specific weapon.

This literal act of violence against the image forms the foundation of the series. It compels the viewer to confront not just the glamour and iconography of the subject, but also the very real force behind the firearms they hold. What was once a prop becomes a point of rupture—blurring the line between fiction and reality, spectacle and consequence.

As with every piece in Hollywood Reloaded, this portrait is far more than nostalgic glamour. Symondson fires live rounds through the print using the exact type of firearm shown in the image, leaving behind real bullet holes—a physical intervention that transforms the scene into a visceral commentary on Hollywood’s long-standing romance with guns and violence.

The smooth menace of Sinatra’s character is pierced—literally and symbolically—by the destructive reality the weapon represents. The result is a compelling fusion of fine art and cultural critique, where timeless charisma meets the raw truth beneath the surface.

With only three editions created worldwide, each distinguished by its unique butterfly placement and dual signatures from both creators, this piece stands as a singular and evocative collision of cinema, celebrity, and contemporary art.
