Art to Disarm sells the work of artist Bran Symondson. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit arttodisarm.co.uk, buy from us, make an enquiry or join our mailing list, why we collect it, and the choices and rights you have. We are the controller of your personal information under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

If you have any questions, contact us at info@arttodisarm.com.

What we collect

  • Orders: your name, email address, phone number, billing and delivery addresses, the works you buy and your order history. Card and payment details are handled by our payment providers at checkout; we don’t see or store your full card number.
  • Enquiries and commissions: what you tell us through our enquiry form, by email or on WhatsApp, such as your name, contact details and the story or materials for a commission.
  • Mailing list: your email address when you sign up for the Collector’s Guide and updates on new releases.
  • Your basket and browsing: a technical identifier stored in your browser so your basket is remembered, and basic technical information your browser sends (such as IP address and device type). See our Cookie Policy.

How and why we use it

  • To take and deliver your order, provide receipts and tracking, and handle returns: this is necessary to perform our contract with you.
  • To answer enquiries and carry out commissions: necessary to take steps you’ve asked for before and under a contract.
  • To send the Collector’s Guide and news of new works: based on your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email, or by contacting us.
  • To keep accounting and tax records: to meet our legal obligations.
  • To run, secure and improve the website and prevent fraud: our legitimate interests in operating a safe online shop.

We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for automated decisions that significantly affect you.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the business, and only what they need:

  • Wix, which hosts our website, shop, checkout, forms and customer records;
  • payment providers, who process payments securely at checkout;
  • couriers and shipping partners, who deliver your order;
  • our email marketing provider, which sends our mailing list emails;
  • professional advisers such as accountants, and authorities where the law requires it.

Some of these providers are based outside the UK, including in the United States. Where your information is transferred abroad, we rely on safeguards recognised under UK law, such as adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.

How long we keep it

We keep order and accounting records for as long as the law requires (generally six years). We keep enquiry and commission correspondence for as long as needed to deal with it and any follow-up. We keep your mailing list details until you unsubscribe. We then delete or anonymise the information.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of your personal information, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, to have it transferred to you or another organisation, and to withdraw your consent at any time (this doesn’t affect anything we did before). To use any of these rights, email info@arttodisarm.com. We’ll reply within one month.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Security

Our website and checkout run over encrypted connections, and we use reputable providers with appropriate security measures. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Other websites

Our site links to other websites, such as Instagram, YouTube and Bran’s artist website. We’re not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their policies.
